Hi All,
Well a whirlwind week of getting things done and preparing for our up coming season. It usually takes about a month to sort things out with all the new changes, swimmers and more.
By now you should all be registered and if not please do so. Contact Lee Ann if you need help.
Parents! Thank you for adhering to our bleacher policy. I know it was sudden, without warning, but as the sign explains it helps our Team in many ways. Be sure if you need to talk with a Coach to make contact prior to or after any practice. Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated. Also, for you veteran parents it would be of great help if you all introduced yourself to our new swim Parents. We have already added many new faces and there will be many more in the next several weeks. I also really appreciate the effort by all to make sure our swimmers arrive on time, 10-15 minutes early, so they are ready to get in at our starting time. As for me I apologize for not being very involved with the Parents thus far but there are so many things happening at once it is difficult. As I stated, in a few weeks we will settle down and be ready to go forward with our swim season.
As of this date we are planning a Team get together for the end of the month. As soon as I get our location secured we will have a pot luck/get together to open our new season. The date will be September 27, Saturday and most likely at the High School. The time is not certain yet. Karen Connacher is in charge of arrangements for food etc and she will contact you all soon. We need to update mail lists so we include all of our new folks. Look for something in the next week or so.
Also, Don Starcher is preparing our new suit and apparel forms and those will be ready soon. Our team suit will be a Navy Blue suit so we can continue to have suits available for all. The old team suit is no longer made so we will simplify so our friend of MLMR, Cory, at Multi Sport will be able to have suits available, in stock, when anyone needs a new one. T-shirts and sweats will also be available through Don.
One thing I have given much thought to for our new season are goals. I feel it is valuable to have goals so you have something to keep you, all of us, focused. This year I will not do individual goals. The reason being is that, this is obvious, we all try to improve in what we do as swimmers daily and at meets anyway. What I want to achieve this year and in all upcoming years is the focus on, COMMON GOALS. Goals we all have in common, provide our swimmers with the best opportunity to grow, learn and be successful as individuals and as a TEAM. My goal is for us, MLMR, to work together in and out of the pool to be the best Team we can possibly be. This means dropping our personal wants and desires to focus on the Team. If you can do anything to help our Team improve then do it. Read the Handbook and know that the Handbook is the way we want to be. I depend on the Handbook to be my way of life as a Coach. I depend on the Parents to be the leaders so our swimmers learn how to follow rules, regulations and expectations at the pool whether it be swim practice or swim meets. Keep yourself reminded constantly that this is a Team Goal. All individuals must work together in order to be successful together.
If ever you need to contact me with any question or concerns that may help us achieve the goals of the Team please do not hesitate to contact me. I don't need to be told how to do my job but if you want to contribute to the Team then speak up. The lines of communications works if it is used. I want no hidden agendas, we must remain selfless in order to achieve our goal of being a better Team.
See you at the pool!
Coach Steve

Dear current and former swim families:
The short course season with the Moses Lake Manta Rays begins September 2.
(Please refer to the practice schedule page for details and times.) We look forward to an exciting season under the direction of head coach Steve Witcher.
Registration materials are attached. Please be aware that all swimmers who were registered during the summer as seasonal swimmers (for $31.50) will need to submit the 2009 IES REGISTRATION FORM and fee before entering the pool, as seasonal registration expires on 8/31. The 2009 fee of $60 per swimmer covers the balance of 2008 as well as all of 2009 and will keep your swimmer insured while in the water. Those of you who registered with IES for the entire year (a $59 fee during 2008) will not need to register for 2009 until November. (Information will be forthcoming.)
Feel free to direct any questions my way.
Thanks--and we'll see you at the pool!
